Move-In Obstacles

Move-In Obstacles

There have been many obstacles in our transition to full-timing and moving out of our townhouse and into an RV. Joelle explains what obstacles she’s faced along with how we have procrastinated, how she’s still working and why you shouldn’t give up on your dreams!

Cold Cold Cold.

That is all I can say about the last week. It was not the most ideal time to get the RV livable, but it had to be done. I am very happy to say we are currently living in the RV full-time as of last week! We still have quite a bit of things to do, but when do we not. Justin and I have almost finished the flooring, so next is the bathroom which still needs the toilet installed. Until we get the water working, we are using his friends bathroom and kitchen. Yay for plumbing.

Procrastination at It’s Finest

We are procrastinators so some things that needed to be done, were done late because of us.

All in a matter of 3 days we had to move out of the current townhouse and clean out the furniture we had, which for us we gave away. We decided against putting our things in storage, to save money. It is very liberating to think that what we have in the RV is what we have period. While moving from the townhouse to the RV we also had to put the flooring in which, luckily, was finished 24 hours before we moved in. We decided to do a grey vinyl flooring (Ironwood Allure from Home Depot), which looks gorgeous. Since our home is only 27 feet long, it makes the RV feel and look bigger than what the size actually is.

I’m Working at Starbucks During the Transition

I have had to work while moving… I don’t recommend it. I am currently a Barista at Starbucks, and I usually open so I have to be awake and at work by 4:30 am. It’s fun, most days, but not while we have to make the RV livable the way it was.

Thankfully we were able to get the furnace working the day of move in (that was a close one) because we ended up having a snow storm that night. Let me just say that was a trip, we were rushing and moving everything in before it snowed and just as we finished, it began to snow. Since then it has been nothing but unpacking and I can say we are about 90% there with just one more group of small boxes to go through. We couldn’t be happier.

It’s Worth It & You Can Do It Too!

For whoever is reading this, just don’t forget your reasoning on why you chose to buy an RV and make this lifestyle YOUR lifestyle, keep going because there will always be problems, bad timing, holidays or just a bad day in general.

For us we just got through the hard times to get started and now it’s just a matter of time to begin our open road chronicles!
